Black Brocade Suit with gold trim

Original name: Black Brocade Suit with gold trim
Also called: Black Sleek Suit

Suit Information and Accessories

Information
One of the rarest Elvis suits is the Black Brocade, which exists in two versions: one with gold trim and the other featuring a green floral and red unicorn motif. The black brocade suit with gold trim is a jumpsuit that showcases a distinctive design on the lapels and collar. This trim incorporates a unique fish and whale theme. Unlike the red trim suit, which has mirrored lapel trims, the lapel gold trims of the black brocade suit are slightly asymmetrical, and this design is echoed in the high collar.

As of today, there are no known photos of Elvis wearing this suit; however, it is believed that he wore it during the January/February Vegas engagement in 1970 due to its distinctive design.

Accessories
The belt that Elvis wore with this suit is purely speculative, as no photos have been found that capture him wearing it. The suit is exhibited at Graceland without the belt but according to Edvarsen and Larsen (2011) "The belt is weaved macrame in black, with gold colored studs." (p.52).
