Las Vegas, January 26 - February 23, 1971
LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL Elvis Presley, unquestion ably the most popular entertainer to ever appear on the famed Las Vegas Strip, returns to the main showroom of the International Hotel Tuesday evening to open another four-week engagement. It will be the fourth International appearance in the past 18 months for the handsome entertainer. Elvis, backed by comic Sammy Shore and two-vocal groups, the Sweet Inspirations and The Imperials, will perform twice nightly at 8 p.m. and midnight through February 23. except on opening night when there will be one performance only at 10:15 p.m. Elvis return to the 2,000-seat Showroom Internationale coincides with the release of his latest RCA album, appropriately entitled "Elvis Country" - a description that could easily apply to Las Vegas during a Presley appearance. His latest MGM movie, a documentary filmed during his big International "Summer Festival" appearance last August, is also in world wide distribution and is resulting in an unusually heavy demand for reservations, not only from throughout the United States but from many foreign countries as well. In each of his three earlier dates at the International, Elvis attracted over 100.000 fans into the hotel's plush showroom. He continues to hold every existing Las Vegas attendance mark and hotel officials are gearing for another record-smashing stand. Joe Guercio will once again conduct the 35-member International Hotel Orchestra for Elvis. |
